In my book I have discussed conscious eating. Lately I have noticed many articles in various publications that are similar in concept. Let's review to believing and achieving your desired goals.
New research shows they the practice of mindfully listening to your body's natural hunger cues instead of dieting or emotionally eating can help you lose weight and get healthier. Women who have lower Body Mass Indexes (body fat) versus nonintuitive eaters. They also saw that mindful eating can reduce binge eating and lower cholesterol levels and cardiovascular disease risks.
Let's review some steps to take to consciousness around food.
Focus and take your time eating, take one bite at a time and chew, chew, chew. Taste, smell, see, and feel your food as you eat. Incorporate even the sound as well. All five senses are essential.
Ask yourself, "How hungry am I?" "Am I reaching for the chips because I am nervous or lonely?" Instead try drinking a full glass of water. Then re-think your choices. You may decide to eat the chips but try and keep it minimal to satisfy the craving . Maybe your choice will be better or ,more nutritious. Take some time before cramming food into your mouth. Try and sit down, don't walk around or talk on the phone as you eat.
Keep a journal of all the foods you eat in a given day, and make sure you write down your emotional responses to each occasion. You will be surprised that as you gain understanding and clarity what you will stop doing, or at least start with some small steps to change.
Don't forget to exercise especially if you have run into a plateau, mix things up, run or walk faster for a portion of your exercise regimen. Try something new like a group exercise class or hiking.
Lastly be good to yourself guilt has never helped anyone. Remember you are blessed and perfect and deserve all your desires. It's us, we need to believe we deserve.
I am alive and feel great!
